Strides: Habit Tracker + Goals is one of the longest-running habit and goal trackers on the iPhone: 4.8 from more than 19,000 US App Store ratings. It’s now on Android too. Before you download it or pay for Strides Plus, these are the questions people ask: what’s free, what does Plus cost, does it work on Android, and is it the right kind of tracker for you.
We read every fact below from Strides’ App Store and Google Play listings and its website on October 25, 2026. One of the alternatives at the end is ours, Habit Rewards; we’ve tried to describe the others fairly.
| Question | Short answer |
|---|---|
| Is Strides free? | Yes, “free forever”, with a limited number of trackers |
| What does Strides Plus add? | Unlimited trackers, sync between iPhone, iPad and Mac, Tags & Filters, Today List, export, goal notes |
| What does it cost? | Monthly, yearly or a one-time lifetime plan; the US App Store lists Strides Plus from $4.99 to $149.99 |
| Is it on Android? | Yes, new on Google Play (1,000+ downloads so far) |
| Which iPhones? | iOS 17 or later |
What Strides does well
Strides is built for goals as much as habits. Instead of one kind of check-off, it has four types of tracker:
- Habit, with a streak calendar and your success rate, for good or bad habits.
- Target, for hitting a number by a date (“run 200 miles by June”).
- Average, for a repeating number you want to keep in range, like hours of sleep.
- Project, with milestones on a timeline.
On top of that come more than 150 templates, unlimited reminders, notes on logs and trackers, charts for history, streaks and success rate, a progress report that puts all your goals in one place, and Apple Health integration on iPhone.
What’s free, and what Strides Plus adds
Strides’ App Store description says it “is free forever to track what’s most important to you”. Strides Plus unlocks the rest: unlimited trackers, sync between iPhone, iPad and Mac, Tags & Filters, the Today List, data export and goal notes. So the free version has a cap on trackers, and syncing between devices is a Plus feature.
Plus comes three ways: a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. The US App Store lists nine Strides Plus prices, from $4.99 to $149.99, without saying which is which; the upgrade screen in the app shows the plan lengths. Several prices for one plan is normal: developers test prices and run offers (how habit tracker prices compare).
Strides on Android
Strides’ website now links a Strides for Android app on Google Play, “Strides: Habit Tracker + Goals”. It’s new: the listing shows 1,000+ downloads and was updated on October 16, 2026, and it doesn’t have a public rating yet. If you’re switching from an iPhone, note that sync on Apple devices is through Strides Plus; check in the app whether your data can move between the two.
Is Strides worth it?
Yes, if your goals are numbers and deadlines: a target by a date, an average to keep, a project with milestones. Few habit trackers handle all four well, and the lifetime plan means you never have to subscribe.
Look elsewhere if:
- you want sync for free: on Strides it’s part of Plus;
- you only need simple daily habits, where four tracker types are more than you’ll use;
- you want a reward, not only a chart and a success rate.
Strides alternatives, by what you’re missing
| If you want… | Try |
|---|---|
| A real reward for each habit, on iPhone and Android | Habit Rewards (ours) |
| Four habits free, as a year-long grid | HabitKit |
| Everything free, as a role-playing game | Habitica |
| Free and open source on Android | Loop Habit Tracker |
Habit Rewards (ours) pays you for your habits. Every habit earns coins by how hard it is (1, 4, 8 or 16), and you write your own reward list, like a coffee out, a new book or a lazy Sunday, each with a coin price. Check off a habit and the coins land straight away; claim a reward once your balance covers it. Habits can be daily, weekly or monthly, there are one-off tasks that pay coins too, and a Skip costs 10 coins and keeps your streak alive on a day off. It’s on iPhone and Android, free for three habits and three rewards, with Pro by subscription or a lifetime purchase. It doesn’t track targets by a date or averages; Strides does.
HabitKit shows each habit as a year-long grid of tiles. It’s on iPhone and Android, free for up to four habits, with Pro by subscription or a one-time purchase (HabitKit alternatives).
Habitica turns your habits, dailies and to-dos into a role-playing game, free on iPhone and Android (apps like Habitica).
Loop Habit Tracker is free and open source on Android, with no ads and no account. It isn’t on iPhone (what to use there instead).
