Me+ (Me+ Lifestyle Routine, by Enerjoy) is one of the biggest daily-routine apps around: it’s rated 4.8 from about 249,000 US App Store ratings and runs on iPhone and Android. You plan routines and habits, track your mood and progress, and it suggests a routine from a short personality test.
People look for an alternative for a few reasons. The main one is price: VIP is $39.99 a year or $9.99 a month in the US, and the App Store lists offers from $19.99 to $69.99 a year depending on which one you’re shown (we read the listing on October 24, 2026). In Me+'s low-star reviews, the other common complaints are a long setup questionnaire and a payment screen before you’ve added a single habit.
Here are four apps worth trying instead, picked by what you want from Me+. One of them is ours, Habit Rewards; we’ve tried to describe the others fairly.
| If you want… | Try |
|---|---|
| Gentle self-care, without the pressure | Finch |
| Routines that run themselves, step by step (Apple devices) | Routinery |
| To pay once, with no subscription (iPhone) | Streaks |
| Something to look forward to for every habit you keep | Habit Rewards |
1. Finch: self-care with a pet that grows
Finch is a self-care app built around a small bird you look after. You set little goals for the day (drink water, step outside, journal), and each one you finish sends your bird on an adventure. It has mood check-ins, breathing exercises and journaling prompts, and it’s known for being kind on bad days rather than scolding you. It’s free to download on iPhone and Android, with an optional Finch Plus subscription, and it’s rated 4.9 from more than 760,000 US ratings.
Good for: people who liked Me+'s self-care side and want it softer.
Less good if: you want detailed habit statistics or a structured schedule. Finch is cosy first, a tracker second (more apps like Finch).
2. Routinery: routines that run with you
If you used Me+ for morning and evening routines, Routinery takes that further. You stack small habits into a routine, split it into steps of one to five minutes, and each step runs on its own timer while a voice tells you what’s next. It has reminders, a home-screen widget, streaks and weekly stats, and it runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch (not Android). Two routines are free with no account (the free plan shows ads); Premium is listed from $24 to $39.49 a year in the US.
Good for: mornings, wind-downs, study blocks and anyone who knows what to do but stalls on starting.
Less good if: you mostly want a checklist of habits rather than a timed routine.
3. Streaks: pay once, keep it
If what put you off Me+ was the subscription, Streaks is the classic way out on iPhone: a one-time $5.99, no subscription, no ads. You get up to 24 tasks, each a round button you tap when done, with Apple Watch and Mac apps, Health app integration, reminders and widgets. It’s rated 4.8 from more than 27,000 US ratings.
Good for: Apple users who’d rather pay once and be done.
Less good if: you’re on Android, or want to try before paying: there’s no free version (Streaks alternatives, and more habit trackers with no subscription).
4. Habit Rewards: earn a reward for every habit
This one’s ours. It does the daily part of Me+: habits with reminders, a streak and a done/skipped/failed calendar for each one, home-screen widgets, and an optional daily mood check-in on the Home screen (turn on Show Mood Tracker under Profile → Appearance). Then it adds a reason to show up: every habit pays coins by how hard it is (1, 4, 8 or 16), and you spend them on rewards you write yourself, like a coffee out, a new book or an evening of gaming. On a day you can’t manage, spend 10 coins on a Skip and the streak survives.
It’s on iPhone and Android and free for three habits and three rewards (one-off tasks don’t count toward the three); the widgets and the mood check-in are free too. Setup asks a few questions and then offers a Pro trial: close it and the free version is yours to keep. Pro removes the limits.
Good for: people who keep starting routines and drift off once the novelty fades, and anyone who already treats themselves and would rather earn it.
Less good if: you want guided self-care content or a personality test. We don’t have either; Me+ and Finch do.
Which one?
Think about what you’d keep from Me+ if you could keep one thing. The self-care and the mood check-ins: Finch. The routines: Routinery. Just the habits, without a subscription: Streaks on iPhone. And if you’ve got the plan down but keep losing the will to stick to it, put a reward at the end of it: that’s what Habit Rewards is for.
