LifeUp is one of the best-loved “gamify your life” apps on Android: a 4.7 rating from more than 7,000 reviews on Google Play, a one-off $4.99 price and no subscription. If you’ve moved to an iPhone, though, searching the App Store for it won’t find it: LifeUp is Android only.
What people love about LifeUp is the shop. Tasks pay coins and experience, and you spend the coins on rewards you add and price yourself. So the real question on an iPhone is which app gives you that loop, and how much of LifeUp’s depth you actually used. Here are five. One of them is ours, Habit Rewards; we’ve tried to describe the others fairly.
| If you want… | Try | Rewards you spend points on | Price (US App Store) |
|---|---|---|---|
| LifeUp itself, as close as it gets | ulives | Your own shop, loot boxes, crafting | Free; Premium $9.99 |
| The coins-and-shop loop without the setup | Habit Rewards | Your own reward list | Free for three habits; optional Pro |
| A game with friends | Habitica | Your own custom rewards, plus gear | Free; optional subscription |
| Your own currencies and a skill tree | Earth Online | Your own reward shop | Free to download |
| A real RPG, levelled by your habits | Levla | In-game loot and gear | Free to download |
Prices and ratings are from the US App Store on 2026-10-20.
1. ulives: LifeUp’s own iPhone app
The LifeUp team’s iPhone app is called ulives, and its developers call it LifeUp’s next-generation app. The ideas are the same: custom attributes and skills that level up with XP, a shop you stock and price, a loot box with odds you set, recipes that combine items into rewards, automatic achievements (“10 morning runs in a row”), and focus timers that pay XP and coins. Data is local-first with iCloud backup. It’s free to start, with a $9.99 Premium in-app purchase for advanced customization and stats, and rated 4.6 from 51 US ratings.
It is a separate app from LifeUp, so check ulives’ own help pages before counting on your shop moving across. Either way, make a LifeUp backup before you switch phones, in case you go back.
Good for: LifeUp fans who want every rule to be their own.
Less good if: you only ever used LifeUp’s tasks and shop. All that freedom means a lot of settings.
2. Habit Rewards: tasks and habits that pay, rewards you price
This one’s ours. It keeps the part of LifeUp most people stay for, getting paid in coins and spending them on treats you chose, and drops the rest: no skills, levels or loot. Every habit and one-off task pays the coins you give it (1, 4, 8 or 16, or your own number). You write your own list of rewards, like a coffee out, a takeaway night or a guilt-free gaming evening, each with a coin price, and claim one when your balance covers it. Miss a day for a good reason and you can spend 10 coins on a Skip that keeps your streak alive.
Habits can be daily, weekly or monthly, done several times a day, or ones you want to quit, each with its own reminder; tasks can have a due date. There are home-screen widgets and a streak calendar for every habit. It’s on iPhone and Android, free for three habits (tasks don’t count toward that), with a Pro subscription for more.
Good for: people who opened LifeUp for the shop and want to be set up in two minutes.
Less good if: you loved LifeUp’s skills, crafting and loot boxes: Habit Rewards has none of them.
3. Habitica: the social one
Habitica turns habits, dailies and to-dos into a pixel-art RPG. Tasks earn gold and experience, missed dailies cost health, and you can add your own custom rewards and buy them with gold, next to the game’s gear. Its strength is other people: you can join a party and take on quests together, where your missed dailies hurt the whole group. It’s free on iPhone, Android and the web, with an optional subscription, and rated 4.3 from about 3,500 US ratings.
Good for: people who keep going because someone else is counting on them.
Less good if: you want a calm list. The game, the damage and the avatar are always there.
4. Earth Online: design your own economy
Earth Online is the closest to LifeUp’s “build your own game” idea among the newer iPhone apps. You define attributes (strength, focus, discipline), a skill tree of real skills, your own currencies (gold, gems, time points) and a reward shop of your own. Long-term goals break into journeys, milestones and daily quests, and focus sessions earn XP and currency. It’s free to download and rated 4.75 from 76 US ratings.
Good for: people who miss LifeUp’s custom currencies and skills.
Less good if: you want something you can set up on a busy evening.
5. Levla: a real RPG, levelled by your habits
Levla is a habit tracker and to-do list with a full game underneath: completed habits earn stamina, XP and coins that send your character on adventures, into dungeons and to a trading post with other players. It has checkboxes, timers, counters, lists and reminders, and 17 skills to level. It’s free to download and rated 4.9 from about 100 US ratings.
The difference from LifeUp: Levla’s coins buy things in the game, not rewards in your life. If the shop was your favourite part of LifeUp, that matters.
Good for: gamers who want the game to be the reward.
Less good if: you want points you can turn into a real coffee or a night off.
Which one?
If you want LifeUp back, as deep as before, install ulives. If you want a game with friends, Habitica. Earth Online if you loved designing currencies and skills, Levla if you’d rather play a real RPG. And if what kept you coming back to LifeUp was earning coins and spending them on something you chose, Habit Rewards does exactly that, with less to set up.
Whatever you pick, price your rewards in days of effort: a small treat costs about one good day, a big one about a month. Need ideas? Here are 70 ways to reward yourself and 100 habit tracker ideas, each with a suggested coin value. More apps where points buy something: gamified to-do list apps and apps like Habitica. Habit Rewards is free on iPhone and Android. LifeUp and ulives are products of their own developers; we’re not affiliated with them or with the other apps mentioned.
