A blank Habitica board is the hardest part. Below are 100 tasks, already sorted into the column they work best in, each with a difficulty. Copy the ones that fit your life, skip the rest, and don’t take more than ten on day one.
How to read the lists
- Habit (+): tap whenever it happens, as often as it happens. Never costs Health if you ignore it.
- Habit (−): tap when you slip. Costs Health.
- Daily: repeats on a schedule; a due Daily left unchecked costs Health at day’s end.
- To Do: once, then it’s done. Never costs Health, and pays more the longer it waits.
Difficulty sets the payout: a Hard task pays about twice what an Easy one does, and a missed Hard Daily hurts more. Set it by how much you resist the task, not how long it takes. (How much gold each one actually pays: Habitica custom rewards.)
If you’re not sure between Daily and Habit, start it as a Habit. Move it to Dailies once you’re doing it most days. The full reasoning is in Habits vs Dailies vs To Do’s.

Then give the gold somewhere to go
A full board earns gold quickly, and once you’ve bought the gear you want, it stops meaning much. Add a few custom rewards priced in days of effort: a coffee out for about a day’s gold, a takeaway for a week’s. Prices and 60 ideas: Habitica custom rewards.
If you find the rewards are the only part keeping you going, that’s the idea behind our app, Habit Rewards: each habit pays 1, 4, 8 or 16 coins by difficulty, and coins buy real-life rewards you write and price yourself. No Health to lose; a missed day costs nothing. It’s free for three habits and three rewards on iPhone and Android. Weighing other apps? See Habitica vs Finch and ten apps like Habitica. FAQ
What should I put in Habitica? Start with three to five things you already do most days (as Dailies), two or three you want to do more of (as positive Habits), one thing to cut down (a negative Habit) and your next one-off job (a To Do).
What are good Habitica Dailies? Things you want to do on a fixed schedule and would accept a penalty for missing: medication, making the bed, dishes before bed, reviewing flashcards, a workout on set days.
What are good Habitica Habits? Things that happen a different number of times each day, or that you’re only starting: drinking water, focus sessions, walks, tidying, messaging a friend, and bad habits to tap when you slip.
How many tasks should I start with in Habitica? About ten in total, with no more than five Dailies. Add one at a time once those feel easy.
What difficulty should I set? By how much you resist the task, not how long it takes. A 2-minute call you dread can be Hard; an hour-long walk you enjoy can be Easy.
