Search the App Store for "habit tracker" and one of the first results is an app called exactly that: Habit Tracker, by InnerGrow. With 4.8 stars from about 148,000 ratings on the US App Store (October 2026), it's one of the most-rated habit apps on iPhone. Here is what it does, where it falls short, and who should pick something else. (We make a different habit tracker, Habit Rewards; we say how it differs at the end.)
Table of Contents
What it does
- Build and quit habits, with goals in real units (minutes, glasses of water) rather than a single checkmark.
- Apple Health sync fills in steps, water, sleep, exercise and calories for you.
- Reminders by time or location, as many per habit as you like, with your own sounds.
- Group habits with friends or family, and a friendly competition mode.
- Stats and reports (weekly, monthly, yearly), a habit diary, a mood tracker and a focus timer.
- Widgets on the Home Screen and Lock Screen, Face ID lock, dark mode.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Very well liked: few habit apps have this many ratings at this score.
- Apple Health and unit goals take care of a lot of manual logging.
- Group habits are a real motivator if you have someone to do them with.
Cons
- A lot of features in one app (mood, HRV, focus timer, quotes), which can feel busy if you only want a habit list.
- Motivation comes from streaks, stats and other people. If you track alone and the streaks stop working, there's no other pull.
- Apple devices only, as far as we can tell: we couldn't find it on Google Play.
Pricing and devices
Habit Tracker is free to download with a premium upgrade; the App Store listing shows the current in-app prices for your country. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch; we couldn't find an Android version.
Who should look elsewhere
If you want a full-featured tracker that reads Apple Health, Habit Tracker is a strong pick. Look elsewhere if you need Android, or if streaks have stopped motivating you. That second case is why we built Habit Rewards: every habit pays coins (1, 4, 8 or 16, by how hard it is), and you spend them on rewards you write and price yourself. One-off tasks pay coins too. It's on iPhone and Android, free for three habits.
More options, grouped by what keeps you motivated: the best habit tracker apps.
