A workout reward chart counts workouts, not days. You get one box for every workout you do, whenever you do it, and some boxes are gold: reach one and you take the reward written next to it.
Counting workouts instead of weeks matters more than it sounds. A sick week or a busy month pauses the chart; it doesn’t break it. There’s no streak to lose, only a number that keeps going up.

Download the workout reward chart PDF (US Letter, prints on A4) → or open it as an image. 100 boxes, gold ones at 5, 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100, and a table for the six rewards. Tick the boxes, or use stickers if you like the satisfaction of a sticker chart.
How to set it up
- Decide what counts as a workout, and write it on the line at the top: “20 minutes of anything that makes me sweat”, “a class or a run”, “any gym session”. A clear rule stops the end-of-day argument with yourself.
- Write all six rewards before workout one. Small first, bigger later. A reward decided in advance is a goal; one decided afterwards is just shopping.
- Put the chart where you get changed or by the door you leave from.
- Mark the box the same day. The pen or the sticker sheet lives next to the chart.
- Take the reward when you hit the gold box, not before and not “next month”.
The early gold boxes are close together on purpose: workout 5 comes in the first fortnight, which is when most people stop.
Reward ideas for each milestone
| Milestone | Reward ideas |
|---|---|
| 5 workouts | A new playlist, a smoothie out, a film night with no chores |
| 10 workouts | A good water bottle, new socks, a foam roller |
| 25 workouts | Gym gloves, a new workout top, a class you’ve wanted to try |
| 50 workouts | Proper shoes fitted in a shop, wireless earbuds |
| 75 workouts | A massage, a day pass somewhere fancy (a climbing gym, a spa) |
| 100 workouts | A race entry, a weekend built around something active, the gear you’ve been eyeing all year |
Rewards that support the habit (shoes, kit, a class) are a good default, because each one makes the next workout a little easier to start. For 40 more, see how to reward yourself for working out.
Rules that keep it honest
- One box per workout, even on a two-session day. More boxes for the same day turn the chart into a sprint.
- No boxes in advance and no “I’ll make it up tomorrow”.
- Food rewards only if they don’t fight your goal. If you’re training to lose weight, keep them off the list; our weight loss reward chart has a version built for that.
- Finished at 100? Print a new one and start the rewards bigger.

Habit Rewards works like this chart in your pocket: a workout habit pays coins every time you check it off (1, 4, 8 or 16 by difficulty, so a hard workout habit can pay more than a daily walk), and you spend them on rewards you price yourself. It keeps the count and the coin balance for you. It’s free for three habits and three rewards on iPhone and Android.

FAQ
What is an exercise reward chart for adults? A chart where each workout earns a box or a sticker, and set numbers of workouts earn rewards you chose in advance. It’s the sticker chart from childhood, pointed at the gym.
How often should you reward yourself for working out? Often at first (after 5 and 10 workouts), then further apart as the habit settles (25, 50, 75, 100). Early rewards get you through the first weeks; later ones give you something to aim for.
Should I count workouts or days in a row? Workouts. A streak of days breaks with one missed day and can make people quit; a count only ever goes up.
Is the chart free? Yes. Download the PDF and print as many as you like.
