Arise: Level Up Workout Game turns getting fit into a Solo Leveling-style system. You answer a few lifestyle questions, get a workout plan, and complete daily quests that earn rewards as you “level up in real life”. It has a 4.8 rating from about 21,000 US ratings and is on the iPhone.
The catch is in its own App Store description: a subscription is required to access the workout plans, quests and app features. Its plans in the US App Store run from $4.99 to $59.99 (checked October 26, 2026). That’s why so many people search for apps like Arise “but free”, and why others want the same level-up feeling for more than workouts: studying, sleep, chores, money.
Here are four free ways to get it. One of them is ours, Habit Rewards; we’ve tried to describe the others fairly.
| If you want… | Try |
|---|---|
| A full RPG with an avatar, quests and friends | Habitica |
| Attributes, skills and a reward shop you design | Dual: Solo Leveling For Life |
| The Solo Leveling system in your browser, free, no sign-up | Our Daily Quest tracker |
| Coins you spend on real rewards | Habit Rewards |
1. Habitica: the original level-up-your-life app
Habitica turns your habits, dailies and to-dos into a pixel-art RPG. Finishing tasks earns experience and gold, missed dailies cost health, and at level 10 you pick a class. You can join a party with friends and fight quest bosses together, and the reward column holds rewards you write yourself. The habits, dailies, to-dos, rewards and parties are all free; an optional subscription ($4.99 a month or $47.99 a year in the US App Store) adds cosmetics and extras. It’s on iPhone, Android and the web. More in our Habitica review.
Good for: people who want a real game around their whole life, ideally with friends.
Less good if: losing health after a bad week makes you want to quit.
2. Dual: a Solo Leveling system you design
Dual: Solo Leveling For Life lets you build a character with your own attributes and skills. You set a long-term journey, milestones along the way and quests (the habits that move you forward). Quests raise the attributes they’re linked to, a focus timer turns minutes into skill XP, and the coins and gems you collect unlock rewards in a shop you personalize. It’s free to download on the iPhone, with a 4.7 rating from about 140 US ratings.
Good for: people who love the attribute-and-skill side of Solo Leveling.
Less good if: you want a ready-made workout plan like Arise’s.
3. A free Daily Quest tracker, in your browser
If what you love is the Solo Leveling “System” itself, our free Solo Leveling habit tracker runs it with no app and no sign-up: your habits become a Daily Quest that pays XP and gold, you level up, you buy rewards from your own shop, and missing a day gives you a penalty quest. It works in your browser.
Good for: trying the system for a week before installing anything.
Less good if: you want reminders on your phone.
4. Habit Rewards: level up, then cash in
This one’s ours. It keeps the part of the game that works for most people, getting paid, and drops the rest: no avatar, no damage. Every habit pays coins by how hard it is (1, 4, 8 or 16): 50 push-ups, a run, an hour of study. One-off jobs go in as tasks that pay once. You write a list of rewards, like a new pair of running shoes, a gaming night or a takeout dinner, and give each one a coin price. When your balance covers a reward, you claim it.
If you need a day off, a Skip costs 10 coins and keeps your streak alive. It’s on iPhone and Android, free for three habits and three rewards, with a Pro subscription for more.
Good for: people who want the level-up loop for workouts and everything else, with rewards that exist outside the app.
Less good if: you want a workout plan made for you. Habit Rewards tracks what you decide to do; it doesn’t plan workouts.
How to pick
If you want the full game with friends, Habitica. If you want to design your own system, Dual. If you want to try the Solo Leveling idea today for free, the Daily Quest tracker. And if the reward you’re grinding for is something real, give it a price in Habit Rewards. If a structured workout plan is the main thing you need, Arise’s subscription may still be worth it; these four are about the level-up system, not the training plan.
